Chapter One

Digging the Well

In this chapter students will learn and integrate the four main strands of the Drawing from the Well program: inquiry, writing, technology and creative expression. We start with an overview of the project format and expectations, and then proceed with activities that deepen their understanding and skills. Once the class establishes the "essential question" or primary focus, this chapter recommends a series of writing and technology exercises that will support students' investigation and give plenty of practice for students to experiment with creative forms of communication.
