Purpose
The Institute is designed to provide families, educators, and community members with resources and strategies to strengthen family-community-school partnerships across New Mexico with the ultimate goal of helping all children, youth, and families succeed.
The Institute aims to support youth and parent leadership, create partnerships that can improve school programs and climate, and influence policies that affect parental involvement programs across the state.

Childcare will be available for children 3-10 years of age in the new hotel facilities designed just for the kids!
Who Should Attend
Families, family/community liaisons, educators, administrators, community, youth in middle—high school, educational assistants, counselors, social workers, school-community partners and others interested in strengthening partnership programs.
Youth strand is designed for
middle and high school
students.
All participating students
must register.
Features
Session strands will focus on topics related to youth leadership, parenting, fatherhood, student learning, health, safety, community action, multicultural families, policy and leadership, Title I parent involvement programs, immigration issues, district, school, community roles and responsibilities and more.
Some sessions will be available in English, Spanish, and Native languages when possible.
- Interactive, hands-on sessions with many resources
- Local and national experts in the field of building family-community and school partnerships
- Presentations by students involved in the ENLACE and Gear Up Programs
- New strand for school and district staff with a focus on roles and responsibilities in planning and building partnership programs
- Opportunities to influence statewide polices related to parental involvement programs
- A forum for open and constructive interaction that is honorable and respectful
- Practical hands-on activities that participants can use with their children and in efforts to promote partnerships in their own communities
- Opportunities to learn more about federal and state requirements and trends, standards-based education, and effective practices
- Good food, bags, toys, and gifts as well as a chance to win a laptop computer
