MISSION AND GOALS
The primary mission of the Center for the Education and Study of Diverse Populations (CESDP) at New Mexico Highlands University is to assist communities in improving the quality of education for all citizens, including, students, families, educators, and community members.
CESDP was established by the New Mexico Legislature in 1993, under the auspices of New Mexico Highlands University, to provide technical assistance, distribute research findings, offer resources, and promote quality in public educational systems.
The Center’s goals are achieved by supporting the New Mexico Public Education Department , the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory , and the US Department of Education, as well as schools and districts throughout the region.
CESDP addresses the comprehensive nature of meeting its mission and goals through the use of a technical assistance model for school improvement and reform. CESDP provides support for school and district leadership, monitoring student progress, engagement in analysis of assessment data, examination of school and instructional practices, and for exploring opportunities for community interaction that impact educational decision-making.
